The 2016 Newsweek Green Rankings were recently announced, and guess who made the list? That’s right, Hyundai Motor America, which along with parent company Hyundai Motor Group is responsible for producing some of the world’s most eco-friendly vehicles, including the Hyundai Elantra, the soon-to-debut 2017 Hyundai Ioniq, and every Hyundai Santa Fe Sport near Hazleton, PA.

The Newsweek Green Rankings have existed since 2009, with the eponymous magazine founding the rankings in partnership with HIP Investor and Corporate Knights. The objective is simple: evaluate the 500 largest publicly-traded global companies and the 500 biggest publicly-traded American companies and determine who leads the way in overall environmental performance. Eight key performance indicators (KPI) are assessed, and the Hyundai brand nailed them all.

Hyundai Blue Drive is a big reason for the Hyundai brand’s success in the Newsweek Green Rankings. This groundbreaking suite of fuel-efficient technologies and products is employed by Hyundai Motor Company to tremendous effect in every vehicle it designs, in order to ensure that the Hyundai model lineup is a trendsetter in terms of low fuel consumption, reduced carbon dioxide emissions, and overall environmental awareness. Perhaps no other Hyundai vehicle exemplifies the potential of Hyundai Blue Drive than the 2017 Hyundai Ioniq, which will represent the world’s first automobile model with three different electrified powertrains.

Mike O’Brien, Vice President of Corporate and Product Planning for Hyundai Motor America, mentioned Hyundai Blue Drive and the 2017 Hyundai Ioniq when accepting the recognition of the Newsweek Green Rankings, saying “Hyundai will continue to place importance on its eco-friendly Blue Drive lineup in all segments. Part of this initiative is the arrival of the Hyundai Ioniq late this year.”
